Aren’t Atheists and Agnostics pretty much the same?

No. An atheist doesn’t believe in the existence of God and generally dismisses the supernatural. By contrast, an agnostic is one who does not know if God exists and believes that some things, God, for example, are unknowable. Since both of these terms regularly come up in news and literature, on TV and the Internet, and in everyday discussions, understanding the difference can be helpful.

agnostics are generally passive resistors.

Because atheists believe positively that there is no GOD and there is nothing apart from what science can define and measure, they conclude that there is life on this earth and then nothing. Hence, if God does not exist, then there can be no divine or outside moral compass by which to live. They generally believe we humans are simply products of random chemical processes and natural selection, called the evolutionary theory. That’s why atheists tend to be anti-religion, and often target Christianity, Judiasm and Islam because the monotheistic God of Abraham is at the heart of these religions.

The implications of this belief are far-reaching, because atheists dismiss the notion that humans have a divine purpose for living or behaving. Each person, therefore, defines what is right and wrong in his own eyes.

Atheism is strongly influences our liberal progressive culture and the aggressive tactics of organizations like the Freedom from Religion Foundation. Evolutionary theory is being taught in schools and colleges as if it were absolutely true, and scientists who question its tenets are mocked and silenced. Many new books advancing evolutionary ideas end up on bestseller lists purporting to be scientifically based, but their content is often misleading and often advances disproven ideas. Evolutionary theory, which atheists use to “prove” that God doesn’t exist, ignores the fact that the hand of an intelligent designer is evident in virtually every living organism–plant or animal.

Atheists decide not to believe in God so in effect they can be their own god setting their own standards of morality and ‘hope’ that there is no judgment day. As such, for them, humans are not any better than the animals. Atheists do not believe they are sinners in need of a savior. The joy of living in Christ is simply missing in their lives. So, while they may enjoy temporary happiness, they never find true peace, grace and unconditional love that only is found in a personal relationship with Christ.

Agnostics don’t reject the notion of God, but rather confess that they are not sure whether there is a God Honest agnostics are often searching for answers and are open to discussions about God and faith.
