What are you thankful for?

What are you thankful for?

If this question stumps you, maybe you haven’t stopped to think about the many blessings you enjoy. You don’t need to have a great job, or perfect family, or new car or a big turkey dinner on Thanksgiving to realize that you probably have many reasons to be thankful. You might start by being thankful for what you have, instead of dwelling on what you don’t have.

Millions of people walk this earth with much less than you have, yet many of them enjoy contentment and are thankful for what they do have. Think about this.  If you live in America, you are already among the most blessed people on earth. And those blessings come directly or indirectly from God–the God who created everything, even you.  So take stock of your blessings and thank the God who has made them possible. Objects of your desire may fail you. People may let you down. But even if some things are not going your way right now, God still loves you, and He wants you to know contentment even in your suffering.

All that is required for true joy is a relationship with our Creator (Ps. 37:14), who does want for us to be happy and blesses us with everything we need (Phil. 4:19), even though we may not think so. When we have a good relationship with God (Prov. 10:3), like Paul, an apostle of Jesus, we will learn in whatever situation to be content (Phil. 4:11-12). We will find that the most important thing that God can give us is Himself (Eph. 2:8-9). Once we have our eyes set on God, everything else falls into place (Matt. 6:33). Thank God with your whole heart this week!

Was the Biblical flood real?

Was the Biblical flood real?

It is no myth or just a story. Jesus referred to Noah as a real person and the Flood is a real event. We can totally rely on His words.

The Bible gives no specific date only a sequential chronological progression of the events of creation. One estimate as to when the flood occurred is about 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. This dating is based on the likelihood that the first humans were placed in the Garden of Eden on earth somewhere around 30-40,000 years ago, long after the dinosaurs became extinct, perhaps 265 million years ago.

As to the extent of the Flood, the Bible states that it covered the earth, which to the population at that time would have been their known region. Humans at this time were concentrated in a very small geographic area in what is called today Mesopotamia. It is generally recognized that the Flood was universal to the entire human population at that time. Recent archaeological discoveries have discovered remnants of large settlements that are now underwater in the Persian Gulf. The entire geography of this area of the earth has changed greatly since the Flood.

Several years ago, Hollywood made a movie, Noah, that was loosely based on the Bible story. The movie is mostly fiction and should not be considered a true and literal following of the Bible events. Many, if not most, of the movie scenes are created solely for the viewers’ entertainment. Unfortunately, the portrayal of the various characters is totally distorted from the truth. The Bible does not describe in any detail character traits, other than being righteous, of Noah and his family. There are no quotes from Noah or his family in the Bible. All words and conversations in the movie are the total imagination of its producer.

It is clear from beginning to end that its writer, producer and director is an atheist that has no regard whatsoever for God, no respect for the Bible, Judaism, or Christianity. He has no respect for any organized religion that has a loving God as its foundation. Even the Muslim world has banned and condemned this movie. The movie is bursting with distortion after distortion about what the Bible teaches about GOD, animals, sin, and salvation.

The producer of the movie  Noah didn’t just add to and take away from the story of Noah, he rewrote, redefined, reversed good with evil, elevated animals above humans, gave rocks souls, he equated man with Jesus, and even elevated man higher than God making this movie fiction with blasphemy. We believe that any person seeing this film would leave the theater with a completely false understanding of Noah’s story.

How does God hear and answer all the prayers he gets?

How does God hear and answer all the prayers he gets?

One must expand her or his understanding of God to understand the answer to this question. The Bible reveals the attributes of God, including the idea that he is all knowing, or omniscient. Another attribute of God is omnipresence. He is present in all places at all times. Therefore, an all-knowing God can easily hear all prayers of all the people on earth at any given moment. God is also omnipotent, or all powerful, and can answer each and every prayer as he sees fit.

As science and engineering reveal more of the mysteries of the universe, and help us harness some of its incredible power, understanding God’s attributes becomes easier for each generation.

Psalm 147 says, “God determines the number of stars and calls in each by name.” Before the invention of the telescope 400 years ago, people could see thousands of stars on a clear night. Today, telescopes like The Hubble which circles the earth, has discovered that the universe contains trillions upon trillions of stars in billions of galaxies. A God who can count and name those stars is almost unfathomable. And, he surely would have no trouble hearing the prayers of the mere seven billion people alive on earth today.

Here is another way to think about the question. Today in our high-tech world hundreds of millions of people are using computers and smartphones to ask questions of Google, Siri, and Alexa all at the same time. These tireless virtual servants return multiple answers in a blink of an eye. People could not imagine such a thing 50 years ago, but now accessing all kinds of data at the touch of a fingertip is commonplace throughout the world. So, why couldn’t God who created the universe not do much, much more?

Yes, God has no limits to hearing and answering all the prayers of those who diligently seek Him, love Him, know Him, and trust Him. The equally important question is: “Are you spending enough time with God and listening for His answers?” Prayer needs to be a two-way conversation.

What is the primary difference between Christianity and all other world religions?

What is the primary difference between Christianity and all other world religions?

Two phrases differentiate Christianity from all other world religions;

“in order that” and “because of.”

Most religions require you to do something or perform some sort of ritual “in order that” you can gain favor with God. You must keep ALL the rituals and make ALL the sacrifices. In religions other than Christianity, you never know if or when you have done enough.

With Christianity, on the other hand, you enjoy right standing with God “because of” Jesus Christ.

More than 1900 years ago, Paul, an apostle of Jesus, explained this in a letter he wrote to the church in the city of Ephesus:

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8,9

You can have a relationship and peace with God, have you sins forgiven, receive the gift of eternal life and have the absolute certainty of Heaven. The Apostle John clarified this in his account of the life of Jesus, and also some of his letters:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“

John 14:6

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

1 John 5:12

World religions are man made. Christianity is God Inspired.
