This is a very familiar question and the same question that the apostle Paul answers in 1 Corinthians 15:35-52. He uses the analogy of the seed and the flower. Our earthly bodies are like the seed. Our heavenly bodies are like the flower. The seed and the flower are very different as our earthly bodies and our heavenly bodies will be. The seed is buried in the earth and a beautiful flower emerges. A beautiful analogy.
Our present bodies are appropriate for this life on planet earth but God is going to give us new glorious spiritual bodies suited for the life to come. We do not know all the details of our resurrection bodies because quite frankly they are beyond our human understanding. As Paul wrote,” Lo, I tell you a mystery… we shall all be changed in the twinkling of an eye.”
That said however, we do know that we will recognize each other in our new glorious bodies. They will be without sin, sickness, sorrow, weakness, and will never die. Our resurrection bodies will be eternal and nothing can ever again separate us from the love of Christ, our Lord. We will be united with those believers and family members we have loved and been apart from for awhile.
This is all we really need to know about what our resurrection heavenly bodies will be like. The rest we can leave to God. Jesus said, “When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” (John 14:3 NLT) Jesus will be coming only for those for whom He is Savior and Lord. Jesus is coming again. (1 Thessalonians 4:16) Are you ready for His return?
